Ryuk came into this world with a curse. Everywhere he went, the Cloud followed him. The Cloud absorbed the misfortunes of everyone in the area and poured them on Ryuk in a cold rain.
Anyone who crossed paths with Ryuk for at least a couple of moments, as if shed a load of hardships from their shoulders, and suddenly became happier. For this, the fox was warmly welcomed in any city - he quickly gained confidence.
Ryuk himself lived through all the hardships that one can imagine every day. Any bad luck that could happen - happened to him. It would seem that the life of the fox was a real hell... But no. Ryuk truly loved it. And he loved his ability to help others.
Over the years, he got used to his misfortunes, and perceived them only as a quest on the way to the goal. Probably, without it, his life would have seemed boring to him. And Ryuk accepted each new test with a fox grin on his face...
