[MB Result] Mythical Living Aquarium Lass

CouldntThinkofaBetterName The waves rush bravely yet gently to the shore, whisper their kisses against the pale damp sands, and flee in sudden shyness; the continued dance is all too familiar to Violetta; the sounds and smells are already at home in her memory. This is a new beach in a new town on a new day, but she’s so at ease in the ocean it feels much more like she’s visiting an old best friend.
“Let’s see…” taking the small device from her bag, she checks the coordinates on her phone whilst frowning faintly in calculation. She’s in the right spot; all the sightings have apparently happened in these waters. “The Dancing Saphire of SeaSong Beach, huh…” she looks incredulous for a moment, but the expression cracks beneath a look of sheer star-eyed determination.
Sometimes local legends are nothing but the chatter of folk with too much time and too little entertainment. But sometimes, there’s truth to the uncertain murmurs. A few blurry photos, eye witness accounts, and poorly edited web articles on the dancing jewel that’s been seen in these waters had been more than enough to spark the mythical equine’s interest.
So here she is, wading into the shallows until there’s enough depth to swim. Though her form is light as the water itself, her powerful tail propels her, pushing her beneath the waves as they dash excitedly towards the beach. Beneath the water, the sandy ground descends in a yawning slope and rocks and plants begin to pepper the rippled white sands.
Then she spots it, a few more miles from the shore; a tiny tattered shipwreck huddled at the bottom of the lagoon. Excitement thrums through her as she approaches on a small jet of bubbles from the rhythmic sway of her tail; she’s fast in the water when she wishes to be, but something in her instincts causes her to slow once she reaches the resting wooden husk that had once been a ship. Maybe it’s just the shadows playing tricks on her, but for a split second, Violetta almost thinks she glanced a flash of dazzling blue…
And there it is again, from inside the carcass of the boat. Curious yet cautious, the mythical creature slows the stride of her swimming and approaches, slipping between the splintered wooden boards that almost resemble a cracked rib cage. Could the treasure be in here somewhere? But then how could the mysterious blue flashes have been seen all over the beach?
The wreck is so small it takes only moments to explore; at first, she almost decides the space is empty after all. Her gaze drifts to the break in the boat she had entered through, and betwixt the beams of bright golden sun she suddenly sees a bright blur of blue.
And it’s charging towards her.
Curious more than frightened, the lovely sea-horse dips to the side and sinks into the shipwreck’s shadow. The tiny blue blur gets closer and closer; this must be the dancing Sapphire, she thinks whilst neatly concealing her glee. Is it magic? Why was it enchanted in the first place? What is it even doing?
And is it carrying a… a tiny little shrimp?
Violet eyes widen in a look of pure surprise as the understanding finally dawns.
It’s not a jewel. It’s a tiny glowing blue octopus… and it’s bringing food back for the other tiny blue octopus, hiding with her in the belly of the wreck. It perks up as its friend returns, glowing not so brightly and blazen as its buddy. A few more moments of quiet observation yield the rest of the truth: the hiding blue octopus is injured, and struggles to take the captured food; the uninjured octopus keeps catching the little critter and trying to feed it to its friend.
Suddenly she’s so much more excited than if she were hunting enchanted treasure.
Because now, instead, she could make and help some new friends.
