Excerpt from Mira's Journal:
Subject: Areus Druna (goes by Aries)
Race: Turian
Age: 8,825 years old (still unsure how that's possible but by god he looks good for his age)
Height: 6ft 2in. (Just an inch shorter than the Commander's lieutenant.)
Eye color: Blue-green (like the sea... Why did I write this?
Skin color: light tan
Plate color?: A light bronzish gray
Markings: He has blue markings on the left side of his body. The one on his face represents that he is the Prince. The one on his left arm states that he is a skilled warrior. The strange spirals under his plates I think are for fun. They're beautiful regardless
Biological Notes: From what I've learned so far, Turians have metallic like plates that cover most of the chest, front parts of the legs and along the neck starting from the base of the fringe and ending near the shoulder on the inside of the cowl. Though tough, I doubt they can repel bullets. From studying Aries, I learned males have long fancy crests upon their heads while females have none. The females do have arm spurs and also unlike the males have a thinner but higher digitgrade feet and shorter talons. Aries says that the crest is similar to human hair. The shiner and longer the crest, the more enticing they are in attracting mates. (Not unlike certain avian species on the surface.) I also discovered that turians actually have secondary vocals which I think may be their primary source of communicating to each other. I noticed this when Aries was moving his mandibles (I think that's what he called them) in a strange quivering motion when we met with a returning fishing party. All I heard was something like a faint humming vibration but he refused to speak further. Oh well. Also... Note to self, Turians have really, really sharp talons that they can retract like a cat... Strange but good thing for me. Don't think I'd like to be torn up by those.
Actually, I take that back! Their teeth are A LOT more terrifying especially when they flare their mandibles out like that! So warning to myself and others: DO NOT PISS OFF A TURIAN! It will be the last thing you ever do.
Final biology note: Turians dislike the cold and swimming. I've concluded that since they have a heavy metallic like carapace, their bodies are much denser than say a human maybe even that of a Krogan. (Don't quote me on that) I also think they are exothermic and radiate heat instead of us humans who are endothermic and absorb the temperatures around us.
Personal notes: Despite our game of twenty questions, I have more questions than answers but I also noticed that despite the Turians ability to speak nearly any language, they can't read. Well, not anymore. Aries says that no one has been able to read since the Great Flood. That makes me sad. Aries even confirmed that I am the only person who can read Palaven? Palavenian? Ancient Turian? I don't know what to call their language. Also, I cant help but notice that every turian we've met are wearing those pretty crystals. I wonder if its part of their culture or just something they like to wear.
