May my bones cradle you and become your nest.
I found a Gannet skull a few years ago on my local beach when litter picking, and I was quite pleased as you don't find gannets locally and skulls are fragile things.
Then this year I saw a whole dead gannet on the beach.
Then another.
Then another skull.
Then another; now mostly a skeleton.
Then I heard reports of sick birds on the beach.
All in the space of a few weeks.
While I was pleased to find two more skulls (one more intact than the other). I knew this was a very worrying sign (and don't worry I didn't touch any of the recently dead ones, just the ones reduced down to mostly bare bones, I wear gloves when rubbish collecting in any case).

We have no colonies nearby, but there were sightings of sick gannets on our beaches, and the amount of skeletal parts washing up is a sobering scene. Bird flu is still an issue, and it's a deadly one.
