Averie went through a lot during their stay on Snaktooth Island and even before.

Pre-Snaktooth: Averie stopped caring about their surroundings after having to witness the death of their sister Morrigen. Wallowing in regret and guilt they pushed away friends and their family members, mainly their father. Most of the time they searched for new articles to write. But with each rejection their hopelessness grew more and more. Their fur is unkempt and some nights they can't sleep. It is as if their spark has been extinguished. That was until one day an ominous video tape has arrived their home, and the invitation to a new adventure.

During Snaktooth: Being allergic to Bugsnax, only reliable food source being sauces and the lack of sleep caused drastic changes on the orange grumpus. Averie lost weight and showed signs of malnourishment. Then there was still the unresolved trouble coping with losing a family member, keeping their emotions bottled up. They were still willing to help the grumpuses on Snaktooth Island to survive, and later to escape. The scar above their eye came from the fall onto the rock, but luckily wouldn't stay visible all the time.

Post-Snaktooth: Averie's life didn't improve over night. It took them months and a lot of reassurance, as well therapy, to slowly get back the control of their life. They have been fired from their job as journalist and even got blacklisted, but it didn't bother them anymore. They reconnected with their old friends, reunited with their father, found a family within the former Snaktooth residents and a lovely boyfriend in Filbo. Currently they work as Filbo's assistant, and deciding to follow their passion for photography and dancing as hobbies in their free time. Life did improve, but hills still have to be overcime. There is always a path to improve as a grumpus. The scar over their eye is not seen anymore, because fur has grown over the spot thankfully.
