DuSable Family Recipe: Liver and onions done simple.
As far as I can remember, Liver has been vilified by many as if it were some kind of culinary punishment.
My father was one of this camp for some time before my mother came into the picture with her family's take on things, and my brother and I were kinda born into it and were probably spared Liver being cooked badly.
I would like to share with everyone how we do it in the DuSable household.
Start by gathering Liver (duh), two decent-sized Onions, Butter and Flour as well as a frying pan and a baking sheet.
Preheat oven to 325 Degrees Fahrenheit
Take Liver and after giving it a rinse in clean water, give both sides a liberal coating in flour.
Place parchment on baking sheet (optional) and lay the freshly floured Liver out on the sheet.
Place in oven for 10 minutes.
Flip over and then bake another 10 (give or take with thickness of the liver)
Chop up Onions
Melt 3 or 4 tablespoons of Butter in frying pan (Might need more depending on size of Onions)
Toss in chopped-up Onions and fry at medium temperature for 40 minutes.
Serve with side veggies of your choice.
It's uncomplicated, tastes pretty good and works with most side dishes you may have on hand.

Too right.
The flavor is a bit off-putting to a lot of folks, but if you can take it, and when it's done right, this is a delight.
Thanks for sharing.
Actual conversation at one of the rare restaurant that has liver on the menu:
How is everything?
Tastes like cat food.
Oh, I'm sorry...
Why? That's what it's supposed to taste like. Is good! *continues eating*
