Averie hasn't had physical contact for three years with someone, who is being close to them. That is their love language; physical contact.

Thus Averie is grateful when their boyfriend, Filbo, places his paw on their cheek, or ruffles their fur. They reciprocate the gesture. At the beginning of their relationship it's only touches on the cheek, the paw. Going onward, it will be cuddling.
