Welcome to Week Zero of my Edwin Sketch-a-Week project! Let me answer some basic questions:
Q1: What is this project?
A: For the next 52 weeks I will be posting a piece of art about my fursona Edwin from a different artist. I will try my best to post on Tuesdays.
Q2: Why are you doing this project?
A: As a researcher, it is important to have some features of a situation consistent when you are conducting an experiment. In this situation, Edwin is held consistent across these works. This will offer you, the viewer, a way of comparing the style and approach between artists who take part in this project. Perhaps you may find a new favorite artist and throw some commissions their way?!
Q3: No really, why are you doing this project?
A: Uhh, I find the commissioning process fun, am interested to see how artists approach my fursona, and I will have a lot of unique art by the end of the project!
Q4: What is the point of Week Zero?
A: Because I need to introduce you to Edwin…
Edwin, my fursona, is a black-tailed jackrabbit (i.e., a hare) that was created in collaboration between myself and
crazyfoxlady while they were making me a reference sheet. Included at the end of this post are notable details about Edwin that are shared with all artists who agreed to be part of the project. Make no mistake, I am not sharing the details with you because they are particularly interesting, but because you should understand what the base prompt was for the artist. That way it will be easier to point out the interesting twists and interpretations they took on OC.
Consider watching me if this project sounds remotely interesting. It will be a year long journey involving art, a community of talented fursons, and a grumpy anthropomorphic hare!

Key details:
- SFW.
- Male.
- Mouth is never open.
- Facial expression is usually grumpy, annoyed, or deep in concentration.
- Ears are never straight up, but always held back (see reference).
- Black spot over the left eye is critical and must be visible in the piece. His ears have black tips, and all the other black peppering is randomly sprinkled about the areas pointed out in the reference.
- He wears business casual (see outfit reference. Ex: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49225734/).
- He wears a wedding ring (if you choose to show his left hand).
- Do not "cheat" his other eye into the frame if you are depicting him from the side of his face. His eyes are on the side of his oval shaped head (like a real hare), so it would be impossible to see both eyes unless you work looking at him straight on. Disregard this if you are drawing him with a flat face.
- Has black nails.
- He is ambidextrous, but usually writes with his left hand.
- Digigrade legs
Tips for how to draw hares, rabbits, and the differences between the two. Very handy for getting the face/snout/skull and ears right:
