I have IRL tattoos of angel wing removal wounds. They're these big open wounds with broken bones drawn to be jutting out of the meat underneath, along with some tattered feathers.
The scars on Eren's back are meant to represent those wing wounds sewn up, because Eren was always meant to be the better version of me.
