Here is a cape chisel I forged from a length of coil spring.
Hardened and tempered to a bronze/peacock colour range which would be about 500-520 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Centigrade)
The chisel evidently cuts very well when tested on a piece of mild steel plate. It hasn't even dulled yet.
I'd say this is a success.
