"The Sage of the Falling Dragon, a failed scriptwright who lost their very soul and sanity. Created by ritual to harness the essence of creation and mutilate it into destruction. Their very existence escapes them as they cling to this reality like a parasite. Master of all forms of magic and seldom seen, they are a foe unlike any other. Beware as they can become immune to all forms of one damage type and swap when needed! Mono focus will be one's downfall..." -Thomza Materia
Hee-Ho howdy everyone! Before I continue on with this post that I've created? I implore you to check up on the other context for it. The Cult of the Falling Dragon and the various units and world building can be found in the appropriate folders on my FA page, sorry if it'll take some digging, organization here is a bit hard. With that out of the way, I am now introducing the False Sage, an incredibly dangerous and almost commander-like unit for the Cult of the Falling Dragon. It is one of it's more dangerous units, but they will only ever be found in "ones" and they are extremely rare. They act as priests to spread the falling dragon's faith but are entirely mute with the lack of a mouth to speak anymore. This also disallows them to use any verbal spells, but they can project words into other's mind by force. If a Sage enters into a small village, there's a high chance of them mind controlling everyone and taking everyone back to one of their lairs for their cultic lord.
It is to say with great distress, many of the basic troopers in this cult are mind controlled. If you wish to free them? You'll have to take down the False Sage and destroy his influence. The mind control effect, however, also works better on those who have less faith and are not currently under the blessings of any gods. These beings are also the master of magic and has no problem wiping out huge portion of armies by spamming armageddon spells and mass time stop. These beings are meant to be almost like entire dark lords on their own and it's why they were drafted to work under the new god. However, with all of this, Thomza also states that they can become immune to all of one damage type too. They are far from glass cannons and can take a beating before they are destroyed outright. When a False Sage falls, they are torn out of this reality and taking everything around them into pure oblivion. This does not matter if it's friend or foe, anything sucked into the small dark vortex will be torn asunder and be obliterated from this universe. (The radius of this is usually 30 feet with a 20 second time window to escape.)
To say the truth, they are meant to be almost eldritch in nature as a black slime-like ooze drips from their bandages and wrappings and even off their horns. Thier arms are almost invisible underneath their cloak and they are slightly taller than your average scalebold. They are meant to be imposing, and having a sickly red aura to them as they hold on for dear life at all times before the universe takes them away. It is not uncommon for these sage's to be outright destroyed without cause or reason or them simply over-extending themselves. However, this is incredibly rare and was only first recorded on their first instance of deployment. To properly defeat a sage, you must press the momentum and do constant mix-ups of various damage types. (Damage types being, Physical, Ranged and Magic.) Or... Let's hope you have a few allies with you to help you deal with such a threat.
Other than that? I got nothing else to say lads, I hope you all have a wonderful day! Thank you for reading!
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system.
