Hee-Ho, howdy everyone! Alright, no beating around the bush and let's get right into it. The Mimins are basically the first faction and first alien race I’ve ever created. Based off the idea of “Ravenous Space Bunnies”, Captain PiK really does not do them justice. They are the first antagonists I’ve also ever created and there’s a certain... fondness when it comes to me talking about them.
So! Let’s get right into it. The Mimin Armada was created sometime slightly after the A.I war. When the Plantaran Republic fell it allowed for many opportunistic pirates to begin to raid the galaxy. To combat this, the republic usually hired the help of bounty hunters to take them down. However, one group of pirates managed to escape under the radar. This would be simply known as “The Mimin Armada”, which is run by their “Great Mimin Dictator” as they very specifically targeted primitive worlds that barely even had a grasp and idea of gunpowder and magic.
For several hundred years they had gone unchecked, destroying various planets against foes who could barely fight back. The reason for this is that they usually stayed away from any republic controlled sectors and made sure they were flying far out from their influence. Only taking down the usual trader or someone who could not even remotely call for reinforcements. Their mothership, as described is a Plantaran Cargo Freighter that carries their entire colony with them. Having a massive amount of room to support over 400,000 Mimins in total.
However, life on the Mothership was incredibly cruel and tough. Usually, it was also cold most of the time and the foundries they had on their ship did not help with the overall oxygen quality. Mimins usually go by numbers and letters for their names as it’s mandatory to have it plastered somewhere on their body, clothing and armor. Only the dictator was allowed to be called by a proper title as well as his various commanders...
The Mimins as I said, are also the very first enemy the main cast has ever fought. Especially since Captain PiK (also known as P4-NF) at the time, eventually became a rebel and fought back against his own faction with the help of the Fruit Kobolds and The Boars of War. The battle lasted for over a year on Planet Materia until the mothership fell, and the Dictator was soundly defeated. Leaving many Mimins under the new leadership of Captain PiK.
However, Captain PiK wanted nothing to do with his space pirate kind. Almost ignoring them outright and shoveling them in with the goblin population without proper homes and needs unfulfilled. He would also start the process of punishing every single soldier that was once a part of the Armada. Soon, many Mimins would turn to despise Captain PiK and several rebellious parties would form from this. Going back to the idea of raiding and becoming pirate bands as they fled from their brand-new home. This would cause many small pockets of Mimin Bandits who would fly their own banner and to properly populate Planet Materia. However, without a leader they are severely crippled and weakened.
Even with the ones who stayed and decided they would not commit to banditry- this would cause many to fall under the Warrior of the Pillars and forming a new faction known as “The Melting Flower” that worships Thomza and Aellea instead of the usual Thomza and Tia combination. The Mimins, once godless, fell under a brand-new banner of the Melting Flower. For instead of the violence they once shared, they now wished for peace. For they believe themselves to become pacifist but will gladly fight to protect that peace that is now built.
...and that’s the basic summary so far. Don’t worry you’ll be getting a lot more to read down the line. Until then? Have a nice day everybody!

I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system.
