This is a species of deer that has grown an unusual set of horns. At rest, they are the usual hard horns with small hollows inside that are frozen in this unusual position. When a predator attacks and bleeds this creature, its heart begins to race and the hollows fill with blood. The horns become soft and docile, reacting immediately to the threat and beginning to squeeze and strangle the attacker with force. Often this doesn't work and the deer dies. But then hunters find the skeletons of such deer and their antlers in the woods, frozen in a murderous grip on the body of the predator that inflicted the fatal wound.
