Edwin Sketch-a-Week: W16

Every part of this flat colored sketch contributes to the almost grim mood of the piece. You can feel the mix of boredom and frustrating at whatever Edwin is engaged with. I like the how the angles complement each other throughout the piece. There is a set of horizontal lines established by the ears and right arm, a stream of vertical lines established in the outline by the vest gently sloping up the back until they cross over the skewed lines established by the shoulders. It creates an open pose which somehow enhances the mood. The skull shape and nose feel spot-on. Lastly some little details, I love how the whiskers were depicted in the muzzle and the prominence of the wedding ring.
Detail = just shy of Plenty. The spots and clothing design add a lot of flavor for a flat colored sketch. I think it is critical that the vest was depicted without wrinkles.
Shape & Borders = a bit beyond Sharp, Hard Lines. There are many straight lines for a sketched piece and the body segments are well delineated. Minimal fluff and soft details, just look at that tail.
Anthro type = Anthro. The snout and ears are convincing. Few animal features other than the head and tail.
Furry Art Style Category = crossing the border into the Technical style.
