had a 2am Sketch piece of arguably my most Favourite Plane of all time (Apart from the MD-11 and TU-95) and also because its the only plane I can Butter its landing in the Flight Simulator
For reference this is the Lockheed L1011 Tristar, a competitor for the at the time, Boeing 747, and Douglas DC-10. It was seen as a more Luxurious version of the DC-10 having a quieter Cabin, Autoland Funtionality, and even lower Deck galley or even a Bar & lounge in the case of PSA Airlines in which they removed some of its cargo capacity for this lounge with an addition of built in Airstars.
The Design of the S-duct, complimented with the ambient sounds of the Roll-Royce RB-211 Powerplants caused this to to easily be my favourite plane. Unfortunately, unlikes its other Trijet Counterpart, the DC-10, It only sold a total of 250 Aircraft in its Production compared to Douglas Aircraft which produced a total of 446 in its production run. Because of this, there's only one left in existance thats airworthy, that being Stargazer owned by Northrop-Grumman (Formerly Orbital ATK) and is used to launch the Pegasus-XL rocket Mid-flight. However there's been speculation that a Private Aerial Refueling Company has purchased 6 Tanker Conversions from the Royal Airforce and will be making 4 of them Airworthy for Private use.
So maybe there is a chance, that in the near future, we will once again, see the Sight of an L1011 leave the runway once again, passenger, military, specialty use, or otherwise
