A gift for one of my best friends,
MistressFilth Thanks for being so great and giving me such a fun project!
It was a great exercise converting a character with a lot of "modern" designs and reinventing him in a historical fantasy universe. They and I collaborated on the story, and I think it turned out great!!
Introducing Jacyn, an aristocrat with visions of grandeur, inspired from stories of swashbucklers and heroes flies a bit too close to the sun... Running away from the boredom of his family and the noble lifestyle to pursue a life of adventure in the open skies, Jacyn finds himself on a ship of rather ruthless pirates who let him play pretend on their ship for a while. Catch a score, buy a few rounds of drinks with his family's coin. Then right as he was starting to feel at home, they swindle him of everything he had, they even tried to take his jacket and sword!
Luckily he managed to escape and get back home, to discover that the aristocratic family had discovered what the trouble-making young man had gotten up to. In order to maintain their image to the public and not be associated with not only filthy sailors, but pirates; Jacyn was cast and disowned from his family at that moment. Cut off from any monetary support he had!
Now downtrodden, with nothing but a patched up and repaired royal coat, and an ornate sword not initially made for combat, Jacyn is forced to walk the streets and seek shelter. He held up well despite the new environment taking care of himself, but he could have been better. Luck finds the man as he comes across another rabbit with a blue coat in a tavern. He came to learn she was a captain of an airship called The Rocketeer
After talking, the captain saw in Jacyn a young man at a deep low that still had a lot of heart and aspiration. She gives him an offer. If he could pull his weight, she would give food, lodge, and help getting back on his feet. Jacyn took this offer with no hesitation. Indeed he did have aspiration, he wanted everything that he had lost back, and then some.

Thank you very much! This is still to this day one of my favorite projects. The research into 18th century upper echelon fashion and lifestyle helped design not just the character but also further developed the universe he'd been thrust into quite a bit.
I'm still quite happy when I look at that smirk as well.. That's a young man up to some wild adventures.

the fashion for the nobility and officers for the 1700's and 1800's is pretty darn cool, and its fun reading up on the history and culture for both groups as well. (I prefer the style for the I believe mid to late 1800's though, especially for noble officers where they started getting lots of medals :P)
Indeedy. You just know he's going to be getting into some kind of trouble... but likely knows how to get out of it. And if he doesn't... he'll improvise!

Ooo. I remember this on Mistress' page! ^!^
Hehe! And I see you already know what I said. XD Though I haven't gotten the whole story until now. ^!^
Love it even more now! ^!^ He's never really fit into the aristocratic style, and he's finding a home for himself now. Yay! ^!^ And growing stronger and better as a person now that he's not held back anymore by his family. Turning his disowning into a blessing. ^!^

Thank you very much once again!! Yes this was originally a very new and challenging take on the character to convert someone so modern into a historical fantasy setting. Now after all this time he fits so well in this role and this universe that I kind of have a hard time seeing Jacyn as anything but a fun loving Victorian adventurer with maybe a bit too big of a mouth. I eagerly look forward to his time on The Rocketeer and all the trouble he'll likely get himself and the crew into.
