Lil late for fathers day lol I've actually been meaning to color this picture of The Dagda "The allfather/king of the Irish gods" for some time now and I actually really like how it turned out. He's a very big and handsome lad. https://twitter.com/Goblin0verlord/.....88681186664448
The Dagda and his brothers were enslaved by the Fomori a race of giants and monsters who used his mighty strength to move mountains, rivers and forests, this however only made his strength more terrible and he rose up against the Formori diving them into the sea. With the help of the Morrigan goddess of battle they were able to defeat their great enemy the Formori and impressed with his strength and wisdom and skill in all things she named him The Dagda "The Good God" high king of the gods. however after thousands of years of war with the great loss of his brothers and some of his children he lost his taste for battle, putting down his club and became a pacifist, a gentle and hospitable giant, now he's less like Thor and more like The Ghost Of Christmas Present, he lives a fruitful and peaceful life with his wife Danu "The All mother and earth goddess" playing the harp and looking after their kids.
My Design Process/inspirations:
The Dagda has a few interpretation from looking like Hagrid from Harry Potter to Odin which He and Odin were probably the same god at some before the proto Germanic and Proto Celtic tribes split from each other but I like the more distinct version, I imagine him as kind of like Hercules but with a dad bod lol He is said to wear fairly plain clothes for a king that are a size or two to small for him because he is a very big lad. I decided to make him a Scottish brown bear because The Dagda is supposed to be huge and while I don't know how true it is, one of the Romans favorite beasts to use in the Coliseum was the Caledonian "Scottish" Brown bear because it was said to be much larger and more aggressive then the mainland Eurasian brown bear and its one of the main reason it went extinct same with the Caledonian giant venomous boar "Don't know how true that is either lol" the other reason is because I decided not to make Danu a typical mamma bear I thought the All father being a papa bear would be fun. Sometimes He's called Artur like king Arthur which means bear and his home Brú na Bóinne which means palace by the river Bóinne gets mistranslated as Brown Bear because Bruna means brown and then theirs the association with Odin and berserkers so even though he's not really associated with bears its extremely fitting. He's also called Ruad Rofhessa (Red Lord of great knowledge) so I gave him red hair tho I want avoid giving to many characters red hair but it fits for him.
He is sometimes named Eochaid Ollathair which means Allfather Horse Lord. I don't know why he's called that because he's not associated with horses, except in a few versions where he's married to or having an affair with Epona, the goddess of horses, so that's kind of funny. So on his belt buckle, I made a unicorn design, the lord of horses which I thought was a cute little detail.
One other not so little fact, the Dagda is generally described as being comically endowed, like ridiculously so where I'd drags upon the ground behind him as he walks, I'm not gonna draw that but Im surprised I haven seen other furries do it lol

Yep they are one of the god you encounter on your adventure in Only In Legend.
Yeah it been a while I am really hoping to have the demo ready and do a big update announcement about Only In Legend sometime in Summer. I've been mostly swamped with commissions though cause everything is so darn expensive lol so its been slow but I haven't given up on it.
