Man I’d love to make a sorta open worlds rpg game with ac black flag style ships fights.
Fighting pirates, managing a crew, rebelling against the bourgeoisie, visiting the kyri. The distance between planets is shorts so travelling wouldn’t be that bad. And id do an outer worlds style map so no boundless empty planets with five rocks. Fuck that go anywhere bullshit. Using light magic as a guide instead of mini maps and quest markers. It would be dope

2000% behind that if that's what the twisty light path thing would be, especially if the generated path isn't the fastest or best route, but maybe still gave a small speed bonus (still wouldn't make it faster than as the crow flies, if you knew the best path, maybe not even close) and a unique music track fades in if you follow it- Outer Wilds's soundtrack makes it so that even dicking around in your very limited time per cycle worthwhile, because you can listen to it forever!

Yeah thats exactly how it would work. There would be thousands of currents between planets but they are all invisible to the naked eye, They can be seen when illumenated by a lantern on the front of the ship. And you would use a star map to highlight the one that you want to follow. And the soundtrack thing would be dope. I love those kinds of adaptive soundtracks like in portal 2
