"Saying nine rangers are too many should be a crime!"
I've been waiting a long time to unveil this, and now I finally am able to. Here is the 10th Super Animal Squadron team. Freedom Squadron: Liberanger. The Liberangers are a team of nine each using powers and abilities based on the past Super Animal Squadron teams. If you think this is too many, it isn't too many for the threat they are up against. If they had only five rangers, they wouldn't have enough. But much like in Kyuranger, most chapters will only send out five at a time. In their eyes, anyone who says there are too many rangers on their team is somebody who wants the universe to be conquered.
For anyone wondering about each motif, here is which ranger is based upon which past season.
Libre Red - Woodland Squadron: Foresger
Libre Black - Soaring Squadron: Skyranger
Libre Yellow - Fantasy Squadron: Medievalger
Libre Gold - Video Squadron: Gamerman
Libre Blue - Traffic Squadron: Roadranger
Libre Silver - Prehistoric Squadron: Saurusger
Libre Green - Sneaky Squadron: Stealthranger
Libre Orange - Nature Squadron: Fangranger
Libre Pink - Dragon Squadron: Draconightger
As you probably already know, the Liberangers are meant to be a spiritual successor to the Kyurangers, since Power Rangers didn't give them the proper adaptation most people wanted. Initially, I was actually planning to have Kyuranger adapted as Series 10, then titled Galactic Squadron: Novaranger. But when it was announced that the mecha from Kyuranger would be used in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, along with using updated versions of the existing Dino Fury suits, I had to scrap Novaranger. When Cosmic Fury was announced as a name, I had thought of a couple of ideas for a replacement series such as one series that featured just five rangers consisting of the colors White, Gold, Silver, Orange, and Pink; since TUFFAgentShepherd is also planning to do a series called Jurrasic Squadron: Shinobiger the same year and that team has the colors of Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, and Green. I then thought of doing a series based on the Olympics, since 2024 would be a leap year, and the colors that would be used were the same as in Shinobiger. But in the end, I decided that while I may not be able to adapt Kyuranger, I could do a spiritual successor series that was like Kyuranger in a lot of ways, but also different.
When designing the Liberanger suits, I started out by giving them each a suit design that was based upon the past SAS teams, but for the parts of the suits unique for Liberanger, I decided to give each ranger a secondary color of navy, and the belt buckles all have the Letter X on them, with the X representing the Number 10, as this is the tenth series. A couple of months before posting this, I decided to change the design of the torsos, making them look a bit more like the Kyuranger suits with the image of their motifs on their torsos.
Notes:
1. Libre Gold and Blue are the only two rangers whose visor designs are not based upon any animals, with the former's visor being based on a video game controller, and the latter's being based on a car.
2. Out of the seven Liberanger's whose helmet designs are based around an animal, Libre Silver is the only one whose visor is not based upon his own species, as his visor depicts a tyrannosaurus while he's an opossum.
3. Libre Black and Pink are the only rangers whose suits are based on a past ranger team whose colors were not present in said series, as there was never a Sky Black nor a Draconight Pink. Interestingly enough, both rangers are based upon a past team with Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, and Violet as their core colors.
4. The ranger line-up here (Silver, Gold, Green, Yellow, Red, Blue, Pink, Black, and Orange), as opposed to the usual Kyuranger lineup (Pink, Silver, Gold, Orange, Red, Blue, Black, Green, and Yellow), differs in that the line-up in Kyuranger was that all the odd-numbered rangers were to the right of the Red Ranger while the even-numbered rangers were to the left. The lineup in Liberanger instead has the odd-numbered rangers in the center and the even-numbered rangers on the outer ends. (Kyuranger's numerical order from left to right was 8-6-4-2-1-3-5-7-9 while Liberanger's is 6-4-7-3-1-5-9-2-8).
5. The numerical order of the colors in Liberanger and Kyuranger is different by five colors. In Kyuranger, the numerical order was Red, Orange, Blue, Gold, Black, Silver, Green, Pink, and Yellow; whereas in Liberanger, the order instead is Red, Black, Yellow, Gold, Blue, Silver, Green, Orange, and Pink. As for what represented the number, in Kyuranger, their Kyutamas were numbered, while Liberanger's numbers are determined by what series number their suits are based on.
