"The Witch and the Dragon" follows along the adventures of Leslie and Bolero as they navigate the ancient 15th century South American landscape.

Bolero is a young adult Southern Amaru; a race of mysterious dragon people that suddenly appeared on the earth 28,000 years ago (to this day no one knows why or how that happened). The Amaru have always been very reclusive and secretive, since their ancestors (the mighty dragons) were driven to extinction very early on, and since then only the smaller types have been able to survive by hiding in the shadows and evolving more humanlike appearances, though its still a mystery how that happened as well.

All her life Bolero has been curious about life outside of her little clan, but her stern father has always tried to raise her and her sister to be responsible beings to help their community. She often fails and gets distracted by other things, and it certainly didn't help that once she reached adulthood she discovered the 'pleasures of the flesh' and found another reason for her father to get annoyed with her. She had a reputation for being 'too friendly' with imps and demons that came to play in the woods, and one such playmate offered her a way out if she was interested. He gave her a map to a magical land called 'Di-Endi' where she'd be able to run around and do as she pleased, though she was still a feral dragon girl of the woods and couldn't read, so she just held onto it.

One day a jealous playmate came to claim her as his mate, and her father had to step in and defend her. The fight didn't go as planned, and he was left severely injured for months. Bolero came to the conclusion that even though she didn't wanna be the responsible adult that her father wanted, she couldn't bear the thought of disappointing him further, so she packed her things and took off to explore the world for herself. Along the way she found her way in the middle of a magical duel between some random sorcerer and Leslie herself. After a couple crazy shenanigans the two decided to stick together and see if they could make sense of the map together. Though Bolero had always been a bit reckless in life, she realized that a wildcard like Leslie probably needed help more than her, so she occasionally tries her best to make sure she and her friends don't suddenly die too early, and thus begins her character development!
