It seemed to take an eternity for Gurth to half roll, half drag the ballooning raccoon out from the sporting goods store. The clerk behind the counter, servicing another customer happened to glance over to the pair, baffled by what he saw. Not so much by the fact that either were in their skivvies, when he’d seen them fully dressed before, but more for the reason that the raccoon was easily the size of a ten foot beach ball, and just as rounded.
“Roodur, can you hear me?” Gurth repeated as he grabbed the raccoon by his swelling shoulders, looking into his now vacant eyes.
Though the raccoons eyes were open wide, they didn’t appear to register anything Gurth said, or what was happening around him. Just as well, for as concerned and panicky as the lion appeared, the raccoon appeared positively devoid of any emotion save distant enjoyment.
“The docs…I’ve got to get you back to that bastards house before you get too big!” Gurth realized, and started rolling the raccoon in the direction of his former clients house. Roodur was becoming increasingly hard to maneuver however, for he’d already blimped up to the point of overshadowing the muscled lion…and he was continuing to swell.
“Crap…” Gurth took note of the raccoons rapidly expanding form and broke into a jog, it didn’t take long before he broke out into a heavy sweat. Not so much for the excursion of bussing the ballooning ‘coon, but over the urgency to get him someplace where he knew he could (hopefully) get Roodur fixed.
It wasn’t long however until Roodurs body, so full of whatever it was that was inflating him, began to life from off of the ground.
Gurth cursed in frustration, having to act quickly to gain a hold of one of the raccoons now zepplin sized legs less he loose him entirely. Gurth soon found himself clinging to the soft squishy bloated leg for dear life as the raccoon began to rise higher and higher into the skyline.
“It didn’t go this way when I went through this!” Gurth cried out in alarm, doing his best to climb upon the ever enlarging form of the blueberry raccoon.
Higher and higher the pair rose into a cloudless sky, soon finding themselves far above the busy streets, high above the towering skyscrapers, so far up that everything below appeared little more than minute models…least it would’ve if Gurth was brave enough to have looked down.
“This is insane, how will we get down!” Gurth shouted, more to himself then to Roodur, whose face was still a good several feet away from where the lion was positioned, somewhere upon his stomach from what he could surmise.
As if in answer, the ballooning body of the raccoon suffered a slight jerking motion, that almost caused Gurth to topple off him. Desperately the lion clung to the raccoons massive belly, afraid of looking away from it else he might look down, but he had to see what’d cause that sudden abnormality.
Upon pealing his muzzle away from the belly, he noticed they’d stopped moving, as well, there was a a rope tied to the end of one of Roodurs feet, at the end a grappling hook securely wound around what was once the raccoons ankle.
“What in the world…” Flabbergasted, Gurth held on tightly as the raccoons body was tugged upon, and they started moving downwards towards some small building. Gurth had to squint to make it out, but after a few more tugs downwards, and spotting the pool in the backyard, he gasped.
“Well, well, well!” a pleased sounding, familiar voice spoke from below. “Seems you are capable of following instructions without succumbing to your own desires after all, aren’t you, Mr. Thomas?”
