Dennis the Master Necromancer
A week following my application for the role of Apprentice Necromancer, Rasial made a reply (a video response as well)
"I may have been dead for generations, but even I don't have the patience to read an unabridged autobiography! Next!"
So yeah, I am the prospective apprentice that was turned down because I talked too much. That said, I have many ideas I wanted to share about what I would do with necromancy.
I would use necromancy to find the spirits of master artisans, craftsmen, warriors, and tradesmen long since passed, and harness their talents. With their spirits channelled through my body, their work can live again. Techniques and practises that were sadly not bestowed to another will be resurrected, their magnum opuses bested in a new lease of life, summoned by my spectrum chakram and coursing through my living flesh. But in the event I may need to be combative, there are spirits of those who could lend me their strength.
The most powerful weapons carry with them the greatest burdens. The spirits of those who once held them are imbued into their very structure, awaiting the day that they will be called to arms again. Hauntings will be my tactic of choice, ushering the once dead spirits from their slumber, and bringing their weapons to life. Or say I choose to be on the offensive, and instead incur the wrath of those whose lives were cut asunder and their blood spilled through the weapons of my adversaries. Every battle tells a story, and giving restless spectres the chance to curse and torment their dispatchers would prove valuable indeed in conflict - if their guilty consciences attempt to be forgotten, the pain and despair they wrought will be invoked from beyond the veil, and remind them of their transgressions.
Plus, I couldn't in good faith just settle for a rudimentary and soulless robe set. It has to be Hawaiian shirt and shorts with rainbows. I included skulls for good measure, including a shirt that just emphasises how much of a nerd I am when it comes to a new skill and magical discipline. I did see some skull crocs the other day, so maybe I might substitute the shoes for that, just for added kitsch.
Rasial wanted an apprentice, but I won't simply settle for that. I will master necromancy on my own terms, delving into the side that he has long ignored, and making certain that he cannot rest believing he knows it all. Necromancers tend to forget what it's like to be alive, either being undead or immortal, but my branch of necromancy comes from someone who embraces life, and will fight hard for it, no matter what. Given the choice, many of us would prefer to live, and that's what makes my brand of necromancy so potent - it's not simply harnessing the power of the dead, but harnessing the drive to live and what makes life so joyful and worth protecting.
Perhaps Rasial had a point in my being too talkative.
