The hypmothic light orb lives up to its name. Its soft, warm light catches the eye of those nearby. Once close enough, the orb's arcane flows can act on the individual's metabolism. The metamorphosis is painless, with the individual secreting enough dopamine from seeing the light to welcome the change as a reward.

Maybe it's because I just binged CastleVania:Nocturne , but the moth form reminds me of some of the NightCreatures from that show.

Oh, that's just one of the many reasons. I've just added one to the natural ones that drive them to the lights. As well as adding a few specimens to the breed at the same time...

And these orbs... they just.... float about? Are any of them in the manor? Should I be keeping some kind of filtering glasses with me?

The only one currently in the Manor is guarded by the Librarian of Netsethk. It is not advisable to go near the Orb, but the Librarian usually keeps a jealous eye on it to avoid this kind of incident.

I suppose it is the very same orb that they fell "victim" to? Good to know, though. Next time I have something to show or report on human technology, I guess I will keep my eye open... or rather, not.

That was a long time ago, but yes.
You do not need to enter her lair, you can also call her to come out and chat with her, without the orb in tow.
