I will say that I am not a big fan of slothead guitars, especially when it comes to replacing the strings. Still, I admit that they lend a certain character to the instrument. The design was appropriate for the Ovation 1997 Collectors’ Edition you see here.

I love the fancy tuners they put on this. I have been considering buying some replacement tuners for my 'project guitar' that look a little nicer than the cheap stock 'Classical guitar made as cheaply as possible' ones that came on it, but since the guitar itself is unbelievably low end, I'm not sure I want to blow the money on more stylish ones.

There's nothing like a set of good tuners. But I get that it's hard to justify a really high-quality set for a low-end instrument.

Yep, though I could always take the nicer ones out and use them on another classical/keep them if i break or sell the projecty one. On that note, I'm posting my lute guitar, since you wanted to see it.

My only slothead is my old Yamaha nylon-string guitar, and I agree; changing the strings is a bit of an adventure.

But then, most of my guitars have either Bigsby tailpieces or 12 strings. Sometimes I think I must actually enjoy the whole string-changing ordeal...

The first time I changed the strings on my Ovation Pacemaker (a 12-string slothead) it took me three hours. I now have it down to less than two.

The brass finish on the tuners give it a warm feeling, The matte finish on the head gives it an unfinished look.

Agreed. I love the brass. Chrome finishes are much more commonplace.

This would look lame with silver tuners. The gold look works so well with the rest of the colors.
