It's been a long-running gag of a sort: Me not knowing whether our resident Furfrou is a Pokemon with some oddly human-like features or a human who merged with a Furfrou costume. Which I thought would be the end of it because I never expected the reception to her to be so positive.
When I suggested Furfrou for one of the possible preds in the shared bellypet series, that was just in jest. But to my surprise,
Christykitsune actually picked her. And more than that, the response was mostly positive.
Positive enough that I ended up including her as a multi-gifted pred in Soviet Christmas with three users who had said they would accept her as a pred mentioned by name. After which, not only did even more people express an interest in getting the same Christmas gift, it was followed up by this awesome freebie from
NelsonNoir, which was also very well received.
And all this brought me to a revelation of sorts: Furfrou is love. Furfrou is acceptance. Furfrou is genuine. If she's a Pokemon with human-like deformities, that's okay -- it doesn't make her any less of a good dog. And if she's a human who is more comfortable living life as a Pokemon, she has every right to do so.
And regardless of whether she is a human in a costume, a Furfrou with human-like deformities, or anywhere in between, it doesn't matter because she's been accepted and loved for what she is, both by the Lab's community, and by F.A.
Newcomer Bee loves her.
My daughter, Dory, loves her.
And... Whoever that is on the inside loves her.
Tommy: "That would be me."
Tera: "Ah. Hey Tommy. Good to see you outside... You know, of your residence I mean." *nuzzles a pupper* "Is that your first human prey?"
Furfrou: "Rou!"
Tera: "Well, congratulations."
Dory: "She's so great." *hugs her* "I wanna' be just like you when I grow up."
Tommy: (sigh) "You will be." *pets Dory's head* "We'll figure out a way I'm sure."
Tera: "And if you want, we can take you to the psychics so you can learn how to speak poke'speak for real like the rest of us."
(long awkward pause)
Tera: "Or not." *nuzzles her* "We love you either way."

Furfrou is a really interesting case study in the alleged 'accepting and tolerant' community we share.
I recently learned that this community, born from The Lion King, Bambi, The Fox and the Hound, Kimba, Pokémon, Warrior Cats, and a lot more... has started taking issue with feral characters.

These come in two varieties.
#1: Burned furs.
#2: Trolls.
Officially, a "burned fur" is someone who believes the fandom should be for themselves and only themselves -- that only the stuff they like is okay and everything they don't like is not, and a troll is just someone who likes causing trouble for its own sake. But lately, the former has just become one of the masquerade identities of the latter, IE: people acting as burned furs are just using that as a cover for what would otherwise be easily recognized as trolling.
Why are people suddenly getting massive sticks under the tails about feral characters? Because nobody's listening anymore when they get on a phony high horse about underage characters. The whole fandom either said "Yeah, we agree, underage characters should be limited to-" or "Screw this, I'm out of here".
So now they need something else to piss and moan about that it should be banned to the admins. Enter the ferals.
This is why I blocked at least two dozen users before the July rule change. It wasn't because I disagreed with their interpretations of what is right or wrong. It's because I could tell from the way they were presenting it that they were completely disingenuous and was just an excuse for them to cause unwanted drama or worse.
Meanwhile, even a couple of users who were very much opposed to human preds and weren't afraid to let me know it ultimately decided that they liked my Furfrou.
Every community, real life or online, is going to have a few Calebs and Karens in it. Personally, I prefer online to real life because it typically just takes one mouse click to shut them out completely.

Oh, you missed 3- straight up genuine jealousy. Somebody make better art or have better friends? Use botting to reportbomb their account!
But yeah. Now folks are trying to say that ferals = zoophilia? If there was any more evidence needed to prove that these people are blowing nonsense out their ass, it's this.

Which is the exact same thing they said about underage characters. "Hur, dur, duh, if it's on FA it's porn!" Just in case I wasn't sure before that they are the exact same assholes doing the exact same thing for the exact same reasons.
I remember a couple of them taunted me, after I laid out all the fallacies in their argument, with what essentially boiled down to "Ha ha it doesn't matter that we're wrong because we got our way anyway -- ha ha you suck." To which I retorted that it was only a matter of time before the trolls got antsy again and went after something else.
I hope at least one of them is now having trouble on the toilet because they're clenched tight with fear that the trolls they'd previously enabled are going to be coming for their content next.
It won't happen though -- the admins must be wise to them by now. The next rule change, I predict, will be restrictions on how many trouble tickets you can submit and/or perma-banning for submitting the same ticket through multiple accounts. After which the trolls will probably return to their caves for a while.
Oh, fun fact: The only content I can remember the admins cracking down on hard before these purity assholes started popping out of the woodwork left and right? Hate speech and symbolism. It won't surprise me one bit if these idiots who launched the crusade against underage, and are now trying to launch another one against feral, are just bitter because the admins made them delete all of their Pepe the Frog stuff back in 2018.

And, like... Their logic is like this:
"Oh you're straight? You like girls?"
"Yeah"
"Oh so you like LITTLE GIRLS??"
It's not logic at all.
And like... I am very anti-censorship. Even if it's different political opinions or art topics I don't personally like. Just ignore what you don't like! Of course if it's literally illegal or puts people in danger that should be addressed appropriately, but people are losing their shit over DRAWINGS. It's like accusing everybody who plays shooter games of being school shooters.

I usually recommend checking with your local law about anything sketchy, but I do have to take issue with any implication that artwork of an act is just as heinous as an act.
I like The Corpse Bride. That doesn't mean I'm a necrophiliac.
"Hur, dur, duh -- that's different! Tim Burton didn't intend it to be sexual!"
And you're absolutely certain that I did?
The hell of it is that I've had that conversation thousands of times in the past. Which is why I didn't need those trolls to go "ha ha we win you suck" at me to know they were full of it.
And I don't want to get far too negative in what was otherwise supposed to be a positive piece, so... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQVhppRP4Wo

Last year, the admins decided to amend the rules to exclude "fetishizing minors", which the trolls first celebrated because they thought it meant they were going to get thousands of artists banned from the site, then they all had tantrums when the admins clarified that it was only going to apply to adult-rated fetish stuff.
The most frequent argument against them was that, just because it can be described as relating to a fetish (vore, for example), that doesn't mean it's porn, as is evidenced by the fact that such acts frequently appear in daytime children's television. To which they always responded "That's different! They didn't intend for it to be pornographic!" And the obvious followup (which they always either ignored or had tantrums at) would be "And you know for a fact that we did?"
I might've just written them off as uptight idiots if they just kept banging their heads against the "underage" rock. So the fact that they've all moved on to ferals tells me that it was never about the content and was always about trying to make the lives of others miserable.
EDIT: I made a graphic when the debate was raging to illustrate just how stupid their arguments were. And every single one of them responded with an incoherent pissy bitch-fit at it.

Oooohhh...I understand banning adult-rate, but i don't see what's so bad with, for example, ,,Persian" nomming young ones like in some of your pics. And you're right, can't remember in what cartoons it was, but i can recall seeing young characters being gulped down. So yeah, they just have way too much time in their moms basements. I bet they constantly cry on 4chan about it..
