Imagine a cool, still lake at night. The sky is clear, not a cloud in the sky, and the water is like a mirror, pristine and unbroken. Only the moon is reflected in its surface, not a single ripple in the water. Calmly, you take a pebble, the tiniest one you can find, and toss it right into the center of the reflection. Instantly the ripples splay out, racing to get to the edge of the lake and distorting the image of the moon. Isn't it odd how the smallest things, when thrown into our lives unexpectedly, can change everything about how we perceive things? Cest la vie.
