That was supposed to be unrelated to what's happening with marthus actually and was just idle conversation. Guess I should've been more clear about it. lol
What's happening to Marthus is just the sad reality of having to deal with waking up to tons of unwanted noise all around him and being very sensitive to it naturally.

Honestly it's probably something I don't think many viewers will get since I'm don't want to out right mention it in the comic and would prefer to leave it vague.
But... it's something I struggle with on a personal level. So using Marthus as an outlet for some of my struggles is kind of a good thing for me.... Even if i'm not sure how many people actually might be able to relate to it. lol

Like, keep in mind, back in high school, even like the slightest continuous tapping of a pencil in class by someone would prevent me from studying, and like everyone else would say "we can't hear it" and meanwhile I would be annoyed to all hell and wouldn't be able to concentrate at all. It got to the point where like I needed special isolated work areas to actually finish assignments sometimes.
Sometimes it feels hard explaining it to people who don't have it because it's hard to put into words how frustrating it can be without sounding like you're just exaggerating or making things up.

I dunno if it's related to my short attention span or something else. I can't work when I hear other people awake or get distracted having music or a video playing in the background, but dead silence at night isn't something that gets me to focus either.

I usually don't get too bothered if it's "My own noise" from like music or a video, but if people are around and talking... or walking around... or casually slamming doors shut... or just... even hanging around... I go crazy.
But honestly the worst for me was a week ago where road work outside the house would NOT STOP and I think it was even bad enough to drive me to tears a few of those days due to the noise overload. (And it didn't help that the house was even rumbling at points because of that.)
Anddd that may or may not have helped to inspire this particular page if I being honest. lol

oh yea, definitely perfect timing for the style change.
you know, having a bit of noise sensitivity myself, and now becoming more of a metalhead lately, there's a track playing in my mind. it feel like it would fit the mood for some reason. its oddly theraputing in hindsight. hard to explain XD
