Furnal Equinox 2024 - Lord of the Fireflies by SpiderDragon
For the final sketch of FE 2024,
SpiderDragon and I contemplated for a little bit about what could be done and this is what we ended up with. Alligator, the creature that has been precious to me since I was a child, has been speaking up a lot more of late within me, and I realized I'd never had a picture done of Alligator me that showed more than a bust. While those busts were all amazing, it was time to see the rest of Gator-me.
And so after some quick back and forth to come up with the right general body shape and proportions, this amazing piece is what SpiderDragon conjured forth. She dubbed it "Lord of the Fireflies" and I love the imagery! She put the scar print at the top of my head to blend in with the ridges, and provided a natural flow to the main part of the body, so that the tail is an extension of the torso instead of something sticking out awkwardly from the back (easier to see in the concept doodles, but it's implied here). The arms and legs are the right length I imagine, providing a lower center of gravity along with a somewhat stocky but streamlined frame. The eyes... oh thoe eyes, intense yet gentle and welcoming. I would love to look out from those eyes.
Thank you, SpiderDragon. You have captured once again a visage I wish to be worthy of!
