While I have visited my mother even after what she did, I still tried to befriend her, but during the times when I visited her as a child, my mother would tickle me any chance she got, I remember crazy games where she got me to study, but if I got the wrong answer, my mother would tickle me senselessly, and for every wrong answer I got was worth an hour of tickle torture. And that's how I picked up this habit of removing my shoes when I working. She would bribe me with gifts, treats and trips for not telling this to my dad, but eventually I had to tell him what she did to me, and she lost visitation and custody rights. While I admit it was fun when I was just a kid, but when she did it to me as a teenager, I found it strange and humiliating.
