Leafeon is a composite pokemon that is partly animal and partly plant in nature. As such when it is raised in tropical or subtropical environments where it can photosynthesize year-round, it rarely needs to eat and is known for its even, placid temperament. Leafeon from temperate climates closer to the poles, where long periods of darkness and cold temperatures make photosynthesis difficult, absorb the chlorophyll in their leaves to protect it when the days begin to shorten. As such they are now dependent on outside sources of food for nourishment, which includes berries, nuts, starch-rich tubers, and any pokemon too small or too slow to escape. Autumnal leafeon are voracious and frequently kill more prey items than they can eat, stashing leftovers for later in a series of caches.
