The last two weeks have been very stressful for me. There were three tornadoes in all, and while they were on the lower level such as EF0 or EF1, they still did significant damage. Add my day job to that, plus other factors, and it left me feeling very sad, hence why I chose to name this original song that sparked from it "Melancholy."
My intention was to have the drummer play with brushes instead of sticks, but I couldn't figure out how to do that, so I used the standard set instead. However, if somebody was actually going to perform this, I'd ask that they use brushes.
I wrote it for a small jazz combo, so the instruments are as follows:
Tenor saxophone
Piano
Acoustic bass
Drum set
Vibraphone
