Transformers 1: Rewrite Fanfic
Chapter 5:
….12 hours later…..
MAY 10TH, 2007
John C. Frémont Memorial Park
Mission City, California
“Dude, are you sure we're invited to this party?” was told by a slightly concerned blonde-haired teenager that seemed like he’d rather be smoking weed at his house and hanging out with his best friend somewhere else.
“Of course, Miles. It's a lake. Public property. Almost everyone in our Junior class is here.” was all that was refuted by Sam to his best friend since Elementary school. Both teens had dressed up for the evening as they had other plans for the night such as going out.
Sam had driven to the parallel parking lots as the regular parking spots were full of cars from the 90s and early 00s, not surprisingly one such car stood out in the entire park, and having been parked illegally near the lakeside on the grass- a Midnight Blue 2006 Hummer H2 decorated with airbrushed blue flames as well as other off-road aftermarket parts that ironically have clearly never seen off-roading before, were present, along with a feminine plus one that Sam had anxiety for.
“Oh, my God. Oh, my God, dude, Mikaela's here.
Just don't do anything weird, all right?” Sam, knowing how much of a goof and laid back his friend was, wanted him to not “be himself” for the next 5 minutes. “Hey Miles, how do I look right now? I'm good, right?” Sam had said to the other in the passenger seat of his car trying to change the radio to Reggaeton music. “Yeah, you're good bro, hey, is there something wrong with your car bro? I keep trying to change it and it keeps-“.
Sam was already walking towards the lakeside picnic area of the park to try and talk to Mikaela, he felt greatly anxious, and it didn’t help that Trent DeMarco was present either, given their history. “Okay…”
“Hey, guys, check it out!” Trent had gathered his entourage of yes-men and football teammates to environmentally overwhelm Sam. “Oh, hi.” Sam had said in a slightly anxious and embarrassed tone, given that Miles had now caught up with him and for some reason was now fooling around with the nearby tree.
“Hey, bro. That car. It's nice.” Trent had said to Sam, in an almost mockery fashion, to which the latter would ignore. “….So, what are you guys doing here?” He asked, now slightly impatient as if Sam and Miles were both interrupting his time with his potential GF, that he was oh-so desperately trying to impress.
Sam had quickly took notice “We're here to climb this tree.”
“I see that. It looks... It looks fun.” Trent responded in a near sarcastic tone. “You know? I thought I recognized you, you’re the guy that tried out for the team last semester right?”
Sam tried to forget the quick flashback that he had just had, not wanting to remember being absolutely pancaked by a lineman. “Uhhh I’m not sure I remember.”
“Well… This party’s gonna be continuing at my parent’s house, you two shrimps in?” Trent had put his hand around Mikaela’s lower back whilst questioned and halfway tried to intimidate both teens as they clearly look like they’ve never touched a bottle of alcohol.
“Ah nah we’re cool” Miles had hopped down from his tree, interrupting what Sam was about to say, “We planned on just hanging for a bit before we bounce off somewhere.”
“Ah well…. You nerds have fun then.” Trent had said before he and his jocks dispersed and walked back to their vehicles as the sun had been setting quite quickly. Sam and Miles had done the same.
***
“Look man, I appreciate what you did, but I was about to shoot my shot there..” Sam had said to his stoner friend while both boys were in the Camaro, albeit in a half bothered/half thankful tone.
“Come on man, bros before hoes! Plus she’s already with that Jock, she’s used, all you’d be getting is sloppy seconds.” Miles had refuted.
Sam had sighed in response, possibly thinking that his friend was right…
***
“Don’t put your hand near my ass ever again.” Mikaela had said in a threatening way to her former ex. who was slightly confused and did out of pure dominance.
“Come on Mikaela, I want to make this work, us guys are supposed to show compassion to women like you. Plus, I’ve changed quite a lot since last time… no more excuses and no more lies” Trent refuted.
“You promised me you’d change after Sophomore year, yet you’re still hanging out with those guys who cheated on their girls. Is that what’s going to happen to me? Like last time?..” Mikaela fired back.
“No… it won't, I promise babe… no more..” Trent had reassured her as she opened the door to his H2 and hopped in the driver’s seat. “Wait what are you-“
“You going to give me a ride home? Or am I supposed to drive?” Mikaela asked with slight impatience.
“I think we should head to my place babe, hang out with the guys, they’re bringing their-“ Trent was interrupted once more as Mikaela had exited the vehicle abruptly. “Goodbye Trent…” She had walked away, storming off.
***
“Hey man what’s up with your radio?” Miles had been fighting with the car radio as Sam had been outside, taking notice of the small altercation that was happening a few yards away. “I’m going to drive her home tonight…” Sam had answered to his friend.
“Wait what? We just had a whole conversation a few minutes ago? She’s for the streets.” He refuted his friend.
“Look Miles, this might be the only chance I get at this.. Now get out of the car..” Sam had told Miles, who did so in an annoyed manner. “Hey I’ll come back for you don’t worry!” Sam had said before speeding off to catch up with his damsel in distress.
“You promise right?!….”
***
Sam had sped off to successfully catch up with Mikaela. He rolled down his passenger door window to get her attention. “Hey Mikaela! It’s me Sam Witwicky! I saw you walking by yourself, I was wondering if I could give you a ride home?”
“Fine!….” She had answered in a slightly annoyed tone, wanting to be left alone by guys for the rest on the night, but accepted his offer. “You think you could drive me home Sam? I think I’m done for the evening…”
“Uhhh sure!” Sam had continued driving along the blank road he was currently on. His radio had been switching between romantic music and any station that had music mentioning relationships and breakups. “Piece of junk, I don’t know what’s wrong with the radio…”
***
The Camaro had begun to sputter and engine had begun making clicking noises whilst misfiring. “Oh god. No. No. No. no!” Sam had quickly pulled over to a cool and slightly breezy ridge area overlooking the light pollution emitted from Mission City as it was now night time.
“I should’ve chosen the Gremlin-“ Sam was cutoff by Mikaela who insisted. “Let me take a look at your engine, sounds like there’s an issue with the timing belt.” She had proceeded to exit the Camaro and popped the hood, she took out a mini-flashlight and shined it into the engine bay. Mikaela couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
“Hey Sam? Where did you say you got this car from?” She asked, completely puzzled and intrigued at what she was looking at. “I bought it at some used car dealer, Why?” He had responded in a curious yet distracted manner as his eyes were looking in a different direction.
“Well… This isn’t any GM engine I’ve ever seen, the wiring is encased in some kind of carbon-fiber texture, the timing belt and battery aren’t here, almost everything is inside of the engine itself, looks something straight out of some sci-fi movie…” Mikaela was quite suspicious about the Camaro.
She shut the hood of the car as everything had seemed in order. Mikaela turned around and had sat on the Camaro’s front fascia, looking toward the city. “You know my Dad brought me here a long time ago as a kid, Mission City wasn’t nearly as big as it is today.”
“Really? Did he also teach you about cars and stuff?” Sam had asked in curiosity and to try and play his cards. “Yeah, he was a real gearhead, taught me all about cars to the point where I make boys mad when I correct them.”
“You still need me to drive you home? Don’t want to piss off your parents.” Sam had added in to remind her of the time. “Yeah! Thanks for the time reminder.”
******
….an hour later….
Sam had stopped in front of her trailer. It wasn’t his kind of environment, as it looked like the mobile home park was entirely populated by intimidating bikers. “This is your place, Mikaela?” Sam had asked her. “Yeah! Thanks for the ride, Sam.” She had responded in an appreciative tone towards him as she exited the car.
Sam had sighed as he was now alone in his car thinking about her. Thinking of what he could’ve done better…
“So I take you’re not the kind of human that has the best kind of confidence, huh?” Sam’s hairs on the back of his neck had stood up, quickly realizing his car was…. one of *them*. “What the hell are you things!?”
“You’re a hard being to come into contact with, you know, I gave you hints earlier with that female..” Bumblebee had said to his driver. “If you let me drive us to a secluded area, I’ll be more than happy to tell you more…”
