The simple shading is a huge improvement over the basic, rather flat coloured version.
Some shades are incorrect and some are missing... BUT that's totally OK because light doesn't always behave like a technical thing. It's moving, it's vivid... it is almost alive! ^^
And so, I am totally fine with the shading here.
Two suggestions:
1.) Try not to use a grey background if the character is already grey (or almost black). Sure, the golden attachments look much better this way... but I would always mix the background with a hint of another colour. Juuuuust a very low opacity, ya know? Just a tiny splash of colour. But it's really a nitpick.
^^
2.) I dunno if you should upload both version of this artwork because the first one looks clearly unfinished and then you have this one... it appears to me as if you wanted to upload some "progress" or "shading process" here... but ya know what? THIS version here makes the other one completely obsolet in my opinion.
^^
But that's just what I think.
As long as you don't upload 38 versions of the same artwork... you will be fine, LOL!
Last but not least:
The pose is great, the line work is fine, the shading is really good and the anatomy is nice!
The eyes are a bit weird... maybe because the eye in the dark part has a highlight dot that shouldn't be there... or I dunno.
