I'm sure that's a really, really good way to rehabilitate inmates. They'll never want to go back in there, and will walk the path of virtue just for that.

I'd want to be a potato plant. All it takes is a single potato, and you can get a whole plant growing in almost any conditions. Every new potato symbolizes something good I do to help someone else, then each person whose potato grows into a full plant can continue the cycle and pay it forward. Plus you can eat the excess potatoes, and potatoes are delicious.
But in reality, I feel more like the orchid my mom used to have when I was a kid. She would give it all the love and care, but it would never bloom, and then as soon as she gave up and let it have a bit of space (aka left it to die because she thought it was dying), suddenly there would be new leaves and flower buds, but as soon as mom noticed, she would start loving on the plant again, and usually only one or two would get to bloom before her overbearing nature doomed the plant once more. Which feels like an apt comparison to the pressures of society nowadays.
