A very quick sketch concept for Arash Kor, a character that will appear in my Divide et Impera comic.
Yes, I haven't worked on it for years, but the project is not abandoned. I simply got too busy and I wasn't happy with the script anymore. I plan on redrawing part of the intro and writing down a full, proper script I can be happy with, as well as making a decent cover and a new title (the font I used wasn't free, I later found out). We shall see how it goes!
Anyway, I feel like my cat characters suffer from "same face syndrome" often, so I was trying to give Arash a more recognizable look.
For the record, Arash Kor is pretty much a mob boss who built a criminal empire in the slums, as he's also the last descendant of the Kor dynasty who ruled the city of Sirath before humans invaded it and took over. He's almost worshipped by the catfolk of the slums, who see him as their rightful king, who will one day lead them to freedom. This lead to him being mockingly nicknamed "The King of Beggars" by the human population. The human government of Sirath tried to assassinate him a few times, but as their position became weaker, they started trying to compromise with him.

I love this sketch so much! Arash radiates nobility and anger. His clothing and weapons look magnificent. Is he just a mob boss? Considering his life and the history of his family it is understandable that he would have some anger and hate in his heart for humans and Sa'Jiir. I wonder how much of what he does is because he is actually trying to help his people in some way or if he is just an entitled jerk. I imagine the truth is somewhere in between those two extremes. How much of that anger is a mask to hide an intelligent and caring character?
I want to believe Arash could be something better than just a mob boss.

Best of luck to you with the comic, mate. I won't claim by any means that we've had the exact same array of things on our plates, but I definitely feel I can relate with "Yes, it's been however long, but I have NOT *quit* on it." For me, it's been more of a constant start-and-stop with little bits done at a time as opposed to a full halt for however-long, but still, I've been taking however-much longer to get more of my own stuff "done" than I'd care to admit, too.
From one anthro-invested storyteller to another, good luck!
All that said, the character looks plenty cool! Love the clothing and gear details as pretty much always. :)
