Today in the Vexillological Corner...
The First of July is Canada Day for Canada 🇨🇦. Once formerly known as Dominion Day, it celebrates the Canadian Federation on July 1st, 1867, followed by the passing of the British North American Act of that same year.
This was the time when three separate colonies of Canada (United Canadas, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick)and were united as one country in the Dominion.
This holiday was named Dominion Day at that time and in 1982, they changed the name to Canada Day and is a visibly known for being seen on calendars in North America.
Canadians celebrate the holiday with parades, fireworks, a flag raising ceremony, and singing their national anthem.
