Also I always find it surprising to hear you talking about a whole war happening in the story. I guess I always mistakenly imagined the world and stories being very slice of life with bits of adventures here and there.
I guess kinda like in the sonic comics where they're having fun little excursions one minute and then having to fight off eggman robots the next. and every now and then there's a really serious arc like the metal virus.
but a whole war for the naku? That's some serious stuff!
Also maybe it's cus I secretly really don't want any of the characters to get hurt XD (Good or bad)

I know this is super late, and I'm sorry, but--

Yep, half the plot I had planned with my Naku characters involved a war between a peaceful wooden village in the forest vs. a metal-themed invasion force bent on worldwide destruction from a power-hungry group of manipulative assholes.

Naturally, the peaceful nature-loving forces win, but not without a LOT of casualties, defections, and tragedy (i.e. Sri dying, among others).

I was going to tell this story a decade and a half ago, but alas, life happens, and I'm not a good storyteller - just more of a world builder.

Omg I feel you on that. I love the building of settings and lore but actually writing stories is another thing.
Mostly the sitting down and finding time for it. I'd love to do comics but it's like its own full time job

Not gonna lie. If you mix Sonic SatAM's setting/plot with Now And Then, Here And There (a short anime series), you'll get the gist. Also: uh, be careful, because NTHT is INCREDIBLY depressing, but probably why I yoinked from it. It's about a mad dictator who built a behemoth of a continent of a moving vehicle that goes from farm to farm and absorbing all resources, kidnapping all kids, and killing all adults. Those kids are raised to be soldiers and... um, yeah, just definitely NSFW. Mine isn't that bad, but it was an inspiration. Basically: wood vs. steel.
