One of my somewhat ancient characters, from a story I worked on over eleven years ago. I've been wanting to unfreeze this project for a while now though, but never had enough motivation, or time, or both... However, this year's ArtFight theme, the "Stardust", just inspired me enough to finally do something about it, and here we are!

So, Flare is my fictional character based on "Duck Dodgers", the sci-fi animated series related to the Looney Tunes franchise.

Events of the show itself take place in the 24½th century, and that inspired me to create my own story within this universe adding many additional lore, all the way back in 2012-2015. (Gosh, coming back to this project after so long now is such a love letter to my teenage self, who had ambitions but didn't have enough skill! Because now I'm determined to finally continue working on this with all the current experience I've got!)

But to keep this short for now, there is currently an inhabited planet called Epsilon Eridani b, where the descendants of some Earthlings and Martians live, because they fled an interplanetary war over 200 years ago. Among them there are many anthropomorphic African animals, such as caracals, lycaons, civets ect. (which also became completely extinct on Earth during the very first years of the war, btw).
It took them a while to settle on a completely uninhabited and dangerous new planet, but now they live pretty peacefully and lovely, having political foundations and laws very different from their homeland. However, things did not get better in the Solar System for too long, the war between neighboring planets became either frozen or active all over and over again and that was tiresome. Ultimately, both sides decided to seek support from those whose ancestors once lived here, but their descendants managed to create a completely peaceful life together somehow.
So, Flare, alongside with her adopted brother Wallis, went on a mission to the Solar System to help Earthlings and Martians get along again, based on the experience of her people from Epsilon. At first they worked in turns with both sides, but later they decided to split up and Wallis began working mostly with the Earthlings, while Flare worked mostly with the Martians, because over time they were able to find the most workable approaches.

As the story unfolds, Flare will start working mainly in a duet with Marvin the Martian (a canon character from the show) for several years to implement reforms and many other useful things. And despite the difficulties and disagreements at first, they gradually became very reliable colleagues and friends, which then grew into something even more, making them a great couple.
Over time, they will have an adopted son named Youpi. More information about this can be found in the art piece with him.

Some basic information about the character:
- female anthropomorphic caracal;
- an adult, exact age unknown as it constantly changes throughout the story;
- orientation: demisexual straight;
- personality type: INTJ;
- one of the ears is curved, this is a small mutation unique to Flare, other Epsilonian caracals have normal ears;
- quiet and thoughtful, speaks little unless necessary, but often thinks through answers in advance;
- does not express emotions very actively, unless she herself wants others to see them, but may twitch one of her ears when experiencing most of the negative ones;
- thanks to the previous quality, Flare's a wonderful diplomat and her usually chill appearance often encourages others to seek compromises... although sometimes she struggles a lot due to too many differences with her opponents, but just keeps it inside;
- loved astronomy since childhood and is very well versed in navigating in outer space;
- in her teenage years, she was interested in the music of past centuries, still has an electro guitar she got back then.

Clothes shown in the picture:
- main space outfit for meetings with Earthlings and other alien creatures ocasionally;
- casual clothing, were often worn back home on Epsilon, but it can be worn during free time from work even nowadays sometimes;
- Martian outfit for meetings on that planet specifically.
