Team Star Fox, from time to time, would have to rely upon help from other spacefarers, even from beyond the Lylat System. One such person they came to call ally was Samus Aran, a famed bounty hunter in another region of space. At first glance she was a bird of some kind like Falco, albeit with golden plumage. She usually flew solo, but was said to have relation to a race called the Chozo, as well as being proficient at destroying a very dangerous species of aliens called Metroids.
From their own past encounters with Aparoids, the Star Fox Team knew the value of having someone else they could contact from time to time outside of their own circle, even if they had to come from far away.
Samus was in her personal ship, entering into the Lylat system. Checking to be sure she wasn’t too far from the Great Fox. Though the avian adventurer had been there once or twice, she still wasn’t entirely familiar with the region. Instead her mind was busy, wondering about the safety of Fox and friends. When they made their transmission it was voice only, and the calls were quick.
“I just hope that lot hasn’t gotten themselves into too much trouble,” Samus said quietly. She had decided to forgo the use of her power armor, instead wearing her blue Zero Suit. She had very little need to go in armed based on what she had heard. All she had been asked was to come alone and to come quickly. She pressed a button on her console once she could and saw that she wasn’t far from the giant ship. “Samus Aran to Star Fox, I’m en route and should be present within a couple of hours. Am I in for any surprises when I get there?”
“A...few,” Fox said, sounding odd. He didn’t sound as if he was in danger, just distressed. “You may want to be careful when you come on board. It’s nothing dangerous, but it’s easier if we explain in person.”
“...Alright. It’s not like you to play coy, Fox,” Samus said, still a little concerned for him. “Where’s Falco?”
“He’s right here too. The two of us will be there to greet you. The others are...occupied.”
Samus wasn’t sure whether or not she should feel more intrigued or more cautious, but she simply sighed. “Alright. See you soon, then. Cutting comms.”
After that, Samus spent time preparing her equipment. Even though this was partly a social visit she also knew that there was likely going to be time later where she had to assist on the team’s missions. Past scuffles with Star Wolf, brief as they were, had clued Samus into some of the threats she might face, but she would be ready.
Eventually, the ship made it to its destination, docking inside of the Great Fox. As Samus’ disembarked, she saw the robot ROB 64, waiting for her.
“Ms. Aran, I see you’ve arrived at last.” ROB 64 gestured inside. “Falco and Fox are waiting for you in the next room.”
Samus was wary, but nodded. She walked ahead carefully, seeing at least two Arwings looked damaged, as if something had burst from the inside and damaged the cockpits. Oddly, there were no signs of laser scorches or serious damage. “Were there any casualties?”
“Only furniture and clothing,” ROB 64 replied dryly.
Samus gave the robot a quizzical look.
“It will be easier to show you, ma’am.” Opening the door, ROB 64 waited for Samus to pass. At first, Samus wondered why ROB had not followed, when she heard Fox speak.
“Erm...glad you made it.”
Samus was going to reply, but she balked when she saw Fox.
Fox, who was shorter than Samus from their past meetings and somewhat lean, was utterly massive. The bird bounty hunter had to blink her eyes a few times in order to be sure they weren't deceiving her, but the bashful look on Fox's face and the way he looked made it clear it was no lie.
Fox's most prominent trait was his gut, great and girthy, making his green shirt ride up. Samus could see he was still wearing his clothes, but they barely fit his more bulky body. His signature jacket was snug on his figure, the sleeves straining to contain his arms, each of them more doughy and dense, as were the plump digits peeking through his fingerless gloves. In the same way, Fox's neck was more distinct against his red neckerchief, the cloth barely visible when compared to the broadness of his body.
The golden bird's bright blue eyes soon found themselves focused on Fox's face, seeing the plumpness of his cheeks as well, his jowls themselves juggling as Fox fidgeted, clearly bashful in regard to his new, more portly physique. It was only further emphasized by him shifting his weight, his fat thighs rippling too.
There were a few seconds before Samus caught herself, clearing her throat before she spoke. “Fox? What happened to you?”
“It’s a long story…” Fox said at last, sighing, making his whole frame move in one motion. The sight of it made even the typically stoic Samus have to hold back a faint smile. Fox turned his head. “I was supposed to have someone here to help explain it, but it looks like he’s made himself scarce.”
Samus could only wonder what Falco looked like, but she decided to put the thought from her mind for the moment in order to focus on Fox. “So what happened?”
“Two of our friends, Miyu and Fay, passed through a strange radiation field on their way back from a mission. The radiation itself has mostly dissipated, but it somehow made people exposed to it…Erm-”
“’Grow’?” Samus said, trying to give Fox an easy out from explaining his more plump body.
Fox only nodded. “Right. Er, Krystal’s also been affected since she was the first to help Fay and Miyu. The only people who weren’t directly affected so far are Slippy and Peppy.”
“...So far?” Samus repeated, growing concerned. “Are you sure it’s safe?”
“They’ve been around us and haven’t grown yet, and ROB 64’s scans have told us any lingering radiation is negligible. It’s just been difficult slimming back down, and as we are we can’t get into the Arwings. Slippy and ROB have been working on making them a bit more accommodating, but that’s taking awhile.”
“Which is why you need me around?” Samus supposed. “I’d be fine to pitch in, but the credits from this system can only be spent here. I’m not quite sure if it’s worth investing in a place I don’t intend to linger.” Samus looked at Fox, waiting to see his reaction. He looked disappointed, but nodded. Before he could open his mouth to speak, though, Samus continued. “Still, I suppose it’s worth it to help my friends out.”
Fox smiled, extending his hand. “I appreciate it, Samus.”
Samus quickly took his hand and shook, surprised by the softness of his hand. She then turned to look around. “Should I greet the others, or-”
Before Samus could say more, there was the sound of an alarm going off, followed by someone popping on screen. It was a canine in a red military outfit.
“Come in, Team Star Fox. This is General Pepper. There’s been an uprising from Andross’ forces. I need you and your team to handle it ASAP.”
Fox, who was careful to stay out of camera view, spoke. “We’ll get right on it, General. Just shoot us the coordinates.”
After that, the screen showed a planet endangered by the enemy forces. Fox then turned to look at Samus. “Well, I think that means the rest is going to have to wait. I’ll see who’s available to head out.”
“Aren’t Slippy and Peppy fine? You said they were unaffected,” Samus said.
“They are, but neither of them are on the ship at the moment and they’re too far off to respond,” said Fox. He then pressed a button on his headset to talk to ROB. “Hey, are any of the Arwings fixed?”
When Falco revealed himself, he was about as portly as Fox, albeit with a more bottom heavy physique. His wing-like arms were full and flabby, of course, his blue plumage covering all of his fattened fowl figure. His belly was just as visible, his top and jacket unable to hide his round, roll riddled gut, jutting out ponderously above his belt, with Falco doing his best to look unconcerned, but it was only more dramatic due to the sheer size of his corpulent cheeks beneath his feathered tail. Falco's bottom was broad and big, the blue expanse twice as wide as Samus herself, each of them considerably huge. It looked as if most chairs wouldn't be able to accommodate one part of the pheasant's fanny, let alone both cheeks.
“I was able to augment Falco’s to better suit his...particular dimensions,” ROB responded. “If he is ready, he can resume duties.”
Fox sighed. “Well, guess he’ll have to. Thanks, ROB.” Closing communications, Fox couldn’t help but notice the quick look of amusement on Samus’ face.
“Guess he’ll be showing himself after all,” Samus said with faint amusement.
“Guess so.” Buzzing him in, Fox spoke to Falco. “Falco, you’re needed in the field. Can you get down here like you promised before?”
“Ugh, fine, just...gimme a minute, will ya?” Falco’s voice replied.
The two waited, the sound of heavy, thudding footsteps heard before the plump pheasant finally showed himself. The self-proclaimed best shot and aerial ace of team Star Fox waddled his way out, seeing Samus, but saying nothing.
Beneath was Falco's thighs each one huge, the fat around them constantly in motion as he shifted his weight. The tubby tough guy's facade remained strong, but every so often a flicker of embarrassment would come across his red feathered eyes. He was wider from the waist down than Fox, but otherwise comparable in terms of corpulence.
Finally, Samus spoke. “Good to see you, Falco. So much of you.”
Falco huffed. “Yeah, yeah, good to see you too, blondie. We gonna get out there, or what?”
“If you can fit past the door,” Samus said, still being smug, gesturing to the hangar.
Falco merely glowered, trying to say nothing as he went to squeeze through the door and down to where the ships were docked.
There was a moment of struggle from Falco, his hips indeed getting stuck on the sides of the ship, but he was eventually able to squeeze through.
Samus followed after, waving farewell to Fox before the two of them went to fly off. The pair got into their respective vessels, heading out to the field of battle. It took time for them to finally start to show up at the area that Andross’ men were. The ships were terrorizing the nearby planet, but both Samus and Falco were quick to spring into combat. Both of them were firing, each one using their own tactics.
Though Falco had become larger, he was no less of a sharpshooter, able to make pinpoint shots to enemy engines and weave between blasts with an eerie accuracy. Between barrel rolls, and the brief moments the Arwing’s hyperdrive created after images as it zipped through the field of battle and even blitzed through smaller ships, eliminating them.
Samus’ vessel was, ironically, larger, to the point it took more fire, but her Gunship was more heavily armored and her blasts took longer. Yet, she was able to obliterate her opposition in less shots and she found herself excited by the challenge, different from her typical exploration, but no less amusing.
However, it would be awhile before Samus discovered that there was a machine in the area that would release the very same waves that had affected the Star Fox team. Instead, she and Falco continued to decimate the smallfries of Andross’ army, until the proper battle with a few more potent foes happened.

Fun story to read! I really like the idea of having Samus be a part of the setting as a bird anthro. Only critique I have is the paragraph describing Falco seems a bit out of place, like it showed up too early (and made me think he was popping up on a video feed), but the descriptions themselves were very effective. Great work, I'll have to check out the prequel later.
