Special thanks to
laytonesquemari for this commission and the core account! Now, I mentioned a while back that I had an idea for a crossover between the 2022 Dreamworks film the Bad Guys and DC Comic's Batman. Well, seeing as I am making this crossover part of the DC multiverse, I had an idea revolving around a new character.
Now, in this idea, I am depicting the Justice Society of America as a precursor of the Justice League in present day. Superheroes have been part of history for years, and during the 1940's, the Society came into existence. Heroes from all over the country banded together to fight crime and defend the world from evil. Members included but were not limited to Hour Man, The (original) Blue Beetle, Dr. Fate, and among many others. One member in particular was the beautiful Gray Wolf.
Gray held the distinction of being the world's first anthro superhero. She lacked the powers of some of her teammates, but made up for it in her natural skills: a trained and honed body, and steel tipped claws. Her civilian name was Melody Wolf. In her civilian guise, Melody was a determined and confident young she-wolf, and in her alter ego of Gray Wolf, she was a reliable and talented superhero. She often devised strategies with her fellow heroes, and was very charismatic, knowing full well how to get her way.
Yet, she faced discrimination in and out of costume. Being a wolf, she was often viewed as a dangerous and untrustworthy sort, the villain(ess) of every story, accused guilty without any proof. Though it was true as a superhero she was respected, but not to the degree of her teammates. Yet, she pressed on, believing she would one day pave the way for others like her to be seen in a new light.
Sadly, she perished years later in the line of duty. A grand funeral was held, her fellow society members in attendance. Her death hit every member hard, but no more than Rex Tyler, the Hourman. The two were very close friends, and friends only, though sometimes Rex wondered if perhaps time could have led to them being more. Melody had at least one child in her life, who later went on to have a son. Sadly, Melody's grandson didn't follow (nor knew) of his grandmother's heroic legacy. Like his grandmother, he faced scrutiny for being a wolf, and took his talents to a more criminal pursuits.
He later met four individuals who had also faced such discrimination, and they formed a gang known as The Bad Guys.
Yep, Wolf's grandmother was a superhero and he didn't even know it.
