You had been an avid employee of Doctor Robotnik for a good couple of years now, working as a mechanic/repairperson. You don’t know what drew you in about working with the man. Maybe it was the surprisingly good pay, maybe it was the fact that you enjoyed working with all these robots, heck. Maybe you admired the fact that he was just so honest about how evil he was.
Perhaps it was that loyalty program you’d heard about in passing from some of the robots as you worked on them. It was a baseless, most-likely false rumor, but they’d talked about how organic workers that put in enough work ended up being turned into robots themselves. Others may have been scared shitless at that notion (Hence why you seemed to be the only ‘real’ employee here), but not you. That only made you want to work harder. For years you’d fantasized about being a robot…Being free from being nothing more than a bag of flesh with bones inside…You’d dreamt about it ever since you watched Sonic and his Metal counterpart fight on the outskirts of your hometown when you were a kid.
Ah…it would be so damn wonderful if that dream could be a reality. You knew that ‘Loyalty Program’ as probably just a pipe dream, but the small, vain hope that your greatest desire would be realized kept you working avidly for the evil genius.
Unbeknownst to you though…today was the day that dream would be realized.
You were doing some routine dismantling of some rejected prototypes, when you suddenly heard metallic footsteps behind you. You looked over your shoulder to see Metal Sonic, standing still like a statue with his hands behind his back.
“Oh, hey Metal.” You said, turning around to fully face the bot. “Do you need repairs?”
Metal shook his head, and then held one of his hands out to you, presenting a note. Curiously, you took it and began reading.
“[Y/N], Come to Laboratory 1. It’s about time you join my ranks proper.” -Dr Eggman.” The note read, complete with a hand-drawn Robotnik logo.
Immediately your heart began to flutter…could this mean…? Could this mean that loyalty program was true?! Were you going to finally become a robot?!
“D-Does he mean-“ You looked up from the note and tried to ask Metal Sonic about the note, but when you looked up, you found that he was already gone…
Swallowing nervously, you set the note down on a nearby table and began to make your way to Laboratory Number One. Your heart beat like a drum the whole time…you couldn’t hold back how nervous and excited you were…were all your dreams really about to come true?
Eventually, you arrived at the door to the lab, and you took a deep breath…feeling your lungs rise and fall with your breath…hopefully soon you wouldn’t need them anymore…hopefully soon, you’d be a full machine…a wonder of mechanics with every part of you working in sync with none of them ever working against you…
Psyching yourself up a bit more, you opened the door and stepped on in. Your eyes were then drawn to Robotnik himself sitting at a control panel, tapping away at it. He was so focused on whatever it was he was doing that he didn’t notice you at first. You didn’t want to be rude and interrupt the master while he was at work, so you simply didn’t, and began to look around at what else was in the room. Upon doing so, your attention was grabbed by a large, glass tube in the center of the room…you wondered what exactly the purpose was, but before you could think about it any further-
“HAHAHAHAHA! YES! TASTE MY POWER, FOOLS! I AM SIMPLY UNSTOPPABLE IN THE GAME OF TETRIS! MWHAHAHAHAH!” Robotnik bellowed from the control panel. He cocked his head back, laughing like a madman and throwing his arms up in triumph. You stared awkwardly at him for a few moments before he looked at you finally. He did several double-takes before instantly correcting himself into a ‘proper’ persona.
“Ah, [Y/N], there you are, I have been expecting you.” He declared, flicking a few switches on the control panel.
“Yes sir…Uh, why have you called me here, if I may ask?” You questioned.
“You read my note, didn’t you? You’re going to be joining my ranks as a fully-fledged battle robot!” The Egg declared. Immediately your worthless heart lept several feet in the air. It was true! This was really happening! Holy shit you were so excited!
“R-Really?! I…I-I-I’m gonna be a robot?!” You cried out excitedly.
“Well yes, I figured that was obvious.” Robotnik shrugged. “Now anyway, step into that tube and we’ll get started. It probably won’t hurt.”
The door to the tube opened and instantly you ran in, excitedly rocking back and forth on the balls of your feet as you anticipated the coming changes.
“Now let’s see here…” Robotnik began to scroll through a list of potential models for your new form, and eventually decided on one, that being SCRT-1000. “Yes! This one works…” Robotnik then locked it in.
“…Engage Mental Override…no. Eugh, with this model? Absolutely not.” Robotnik mumbled to himself as he began the robotization process.
Waves of electricity began to flow into the tube, causing you to involuntarily shiver, and making your hair stand up. It wouldn’t do so for long though, as it quickly began to fall out, pooling around your feet before disintegrating entirely. Shortly after that, a feeling of pain and discomfort began to spread through your entire body. You grunted and groaned from it. You anticipated being roboticized would hurt, sure…but you also wished that Robotnik found a less painful method for it for his loyal subordinates.
The changes progressed quickly. Your skin began to dry out, the calloused epidermis then began to harden and coalesce into a thick and sturdy, metal outer-layer. A pained smile spread across your face as you ran your rapidly-metallicizing finger across the side of your face. After your skin had been fully converted into metal, it began to shift into different colors and types for different parts of your body. On your arms and face, it took on a shiny silver color. On your torso, it took on a much darker grey, and at your chest, it took on a black color, and had a sort of rooster-feather pattern. On your legs, you gained a bright-yellow color like that of a chicken’s legs.
Another wave of discomfort and pain hit. It was worse than the last, nearly causing you to tear up from the pain, but thankfully that wouldn’t happen, as your tear ducts had sealed themselves up as your eyes began to dry out and harden, turning into mechanical components. Following that, your skull started to merge with your skin and muscle. Your brain then coagulated into a rectangular shape as all of its functions digitized, uploading themselves into a motherboard that was forming on what was now your engine/motherboard. As you can probably imagine, all of this was extremely painful. You clutched your head in agony, clenching your teeth to try and dissipate the pain, but it just kept coming.
“It’s worth it…it’s worth it…! Change never comes without struggle after all….-! Urrrgh-!” You grunted, feeling your blood come to a boiling point before evaporating entirely. Once your veins were entirely empty, they hardened like the rest of your body, but not to the same extent, merely taking on the consistency of silicone wiring. Your muscle and skin all fused into one layer afterwards just like your skull did.
You finally let out a fully-fledged, electronic-sounding scream at this point. Your legs gave away and you fell against the glass wall of the tube. You tried to take deep breaths to calm yourself down, but by now your lungs had been eradicated by the robotization process. Now that you thought about it, you couldn’t even feel your heart beat anymore…you couldn’t feel your stomach churning either. All of your organs had been dissolved like sugar cubes, and yet you were still kicking…
Your bones then began to harden even more than they already were, becoming powerful steel components and beams that supported your outer-layer. Meanwhile, your joints shifted into iron bolts which allowed you to keep your movement ability. Right after that, several slits appeared in your neck, dividing it into segments. Internally, the beam that acted as your bone began to be divided as well, and the segments all grew springs that connected the segments and allowed you to extend your neck should you ever want to.
You emitted more pained grunts and screams at all this. Your face then was the next to change. Around your mouth and cheeks, your face shifted to the same bright yellow color as your legs, and then began to stretch out. Unfortunately, you were unable to watch as you were forced to hold your eyes shut from the pain. Thankfully it wouldn’t last long, and you opened one eye to see that you’d grown a metal chicken beak. And before you could fully process that, two more plastic growths dropped down from the lower half of your beak, a red waddle. Right after that, from the center of your head and down to the beginning of your neck, a large, handsome, plastic comb began to grow outwards. You managed to move your hand to the comb and felt it a bit. And another change initiated, interrupting your self-investigation once again. Your forearms began to widen and lengthen, and your fingers grew out into a sharp, feather-like shape. Afterwards, two synthetic tail feathers began to slink out from your backside.
The pain was beginning to lessen by now, but it didn’t stop. You could feel your feet starting to change now. Your toes merged into two sharp talons, and one more claw began sprouting from your heel. Afterwards, your feet started growing, as did the rest of your body. Your clothes clung uncomfortably to your body, and you could feel the electricity coursing through your entire being. It hurt so bad, but it felt amazing. You were finally about to ditch your organic, human self and be a robot, just like you’ve always dreamed off.
“bbbbrrrrrrggghhhh-BWAHAHHA HAAAAH!” You laughed triumphantly as your clothes exploded off of your body, finally shedding the last of your previous identity. The electricity finally began to die down, as did the pain of transforming, and you leaned against the wall of the tube. Your whole body still had lingering aches, but you didn’t care. You were happy. You could feel the whirr of your engine as you admired your new self.
“Wellllll, how do you feel?” Robotnik asked, stepping up to the tube.
“I feel…I feel fantastic! Bwahaha-hah! Low…Low on energy though.” You replied.
“Yes, yes. That comes with the process. Go on and let yourself power down. I’ll get you to a charging station and such.” Robotnik instructed. And immediately following that, you shut your eyes and allowed yourself to power off.
Without a doubt, this was the best day of your life. You were ready to serve Dr Robotnik forevermore.
