Context wise, this concept art is meant to convey the scene immediately after Xerina had rescued Brack and Arc, who were pinned down by a group of bandits that had cut off their escape. Xerina's motivation was that she wanted to join Brack and Arc's group, as she had heard that they were "the best" salvagers in the area; therefore, she decides that a demonstration would win them over (and it does). They end up negotiating a bit, as they had an impasse over her initial terms of joining them, but ultimately find a resolution that leaves both parties happy.
