It's much, much easier with a tablet. Drawing a line that's even relatively straight with a mouse is a practice in aggravation. In photoshop you can zoom in super far and manually outline the lines one point at a time with the selection tool. Then, once you get an entire line selected you use the fill selection option. You get a smooth looking line, but it takes A LOT of time and work, and you have to master the point by point selection tool.
