This is a gift art I made for XenXan, of their character, Xenya. She's landing at the mouth of a rather precarious cave that's perched high up on a desert cliff as the last golden rays of sun shine across the plains below.

Wow the world and character look equally cool here
The surrounding environment not only looks somewhat beautiful but quite interesting and otherworldly with all that unusual vegetation landscape
Yet the beautiful and magnificent ness looks both tender and strong. Her contrasting with surrounding colors scales definitely look spectacular and very nice like a piece of clear skies that took form of a creature
Beautiful piece

I really wanted to create a sense of adventure and exploration with this artpiece, so I'm really glad it hit such notes when you viewed it.
I am! I've figured out and refined a technique that I like to do the small scales. I use a scale brush and the liquify tool to create a scale alpha mask that I then use to create highlights, shadows, and changes in the color of the base diffuse section of the drawing. I've gotten quite a bit faster at it and it now only takes me about 45 minutes or so to create the alpha mask on a full body dragon drawing like this. This brush was one I've not used before, as I wanted Xenya's scales to be different than Kiearra's.
