Max Rhodes/Periwinkle and Dave Benton = KobaltSteel

Another picture of Max and Dave together, with Dave rambling about something that happened with him to another guy... I gotta make more characters again! I made some major changes to these characters, as I realized that I actually had their personalities backwards and flipped them around... which makes way more sense now!

I also decided that Max's surname should stop being "Rhodes" and become "Periwinkle," both because "Periwinkle" is easier for me to make cutesy names out of + I don't want to think about Cecil Rhodes... but since "Max Periwinkle" is another OC of mine, I'll be fusing those two together

(NEW) BACKSTORY TIME:

Dave Benton (Tortoise) is one of the many sons of the "Benton Family," a well-known family of intellectuals in the engineering and science fields. Dave was yet another super smart kid destined for a STEM career, but he saw that his family never had time to hang out with him to do fun stuff, like games or movies, always working and being subservient to their jobs; for whatever reason, his family saw this as a "good thing" and pushed Dave into this direction too, which he rejected. He didn't want to live a life of being under the thumb of uncaring bosses and wanted to be as far away from that as possible.

Dave also was troubled by his school, where he went to a really good school for intellectuals; while he had friends, he saw that many of his peers and teachers were stuck-up snobs who tended to look down at students who didn't fit the mold of the "smart kid." Wanting to stand up for his friends, he started to push back against these figures in his life, fashioning himself as a rebellious anti-authority "class clown," who always maintained a very relaxed and mischievous look at life.

He remained a smart individual who was always respectful to his peers (except for bullies), even taking on his destined STEM life as a biologist, but always remained that rebellious anti-authority figure with a relaxed mode. This often got him into trouble with schools, but he wasn't going to deal with people looking down at anyone who wasn't "lucky" enough to be born to rich people (which he considered a curse than a blessing); he did get along with SOME of his teachers, which prevented him from being kicked out of school.

On the flip side, Maxwell Periwinkle was a farm boy who grew up as a really popular all-star athlete, but despite genuinely enjoying sports, this was actually something his parents pushed on him; in reality, he was secretly an artistic and musical prodigy who LOVED music and theater, but his musical ambitions were opposed by his parents, who wanted him to be a famous sports star and didn't want him to turn into a "TV Idol" or something like that. Part of this was due to Max's parents having failed at becoming sports stars and Max, seeing how he is a pretty athletic individual already, could be their way to not only live out those fantasies, but also get away from the farm they found themselves stuck with; they also see music as a "corrupting" thing and associate music with someone like Lady Gaga or something, which they find to be a serious problem.

But while Max was living a public life of being an all star athlete, he actually was living a secret life where he would study and practice music and the arts, where he would learn all sorts of instruments, compose music, learn music theory, and even becoming a skilled opera singer... and he was pretty sharp with ALL of it. However, this home life would cause many problems that would negatively impact his life, including an incident where his parents one day found out and severely punished him for it. Let's just say, it was a highly turbulent childhood with lots of conflict between him and his parents.
