2nd out of 3 in the Freestyle ASCII/ANSI Compo at Demosplash 2024 (November 16, 2024)Following my 2024 entry into @party, I always planned to send something into that year's iteration of the other big American demoparty, Demosplash. By the time I finally did so, world events led me to draw and send in a symbol of unity in the face of darkness. I got it done and submitted in the space of two hours.
A lot of artists don't like drawing hands, fewer would make them the sole subject of an image, and even fewer would draw them doing something complicated like clasping, but I did all three within a single DOS screen. What's more, having seen folks discount my artwork on the basis of being 99.99% furry, I made these hands human, to ensure no one could use that as an excuse to disregard me.
Although I've always sent art to demoparties for the sake of spreading my name and my art, in the end, I missed first place by only six points, at what turned out to be the most packed Demosplash since 2020. Not bad, I say!
