It's been a little while since I did more G.U.N. art (or commissions within the subject, for that matter), but if you've followed me on Discord at all, you might know WHY that's been the case- I really wanted to redo the old G.U.N. Uniforms sheet from March of this year to align with the more oppressive, villainous image that the military had been accruing in art w/ Director Lanolin and such, especially as I started growing OTHER ideas for how the Guardian Units factor into a story arc for the Returners (as longtime followers might've predicted from the Mobius: Returners lore doc (https://www.deviantart.com/azure-lionheart/art/Mobius-Returners-Sonic-Forces-AU-Worldbuilding-1079325220), they do indeed cast a large shadow over this AU!).

Those older uniforms will no doubt be retooled into something for future world-building, but consider this a summation of the villainous angle that the G.U.N. takes on for at least the early half of the Returners storyline; with the old Commander gone and their infrastructure crippled by a traitor, the Guardian Units have vowed to NEVER be so weak again- but under the leadership of a power-craving recluse like Gilder Irons, rebuilding their "strength" means repurposing scrapped G.U.N. tech & discarded Eggman tech alike from the war in Forces, and it also means not risking any more rogue members like one Petrel Turner. And it CERTAINLY means not entrusting the future to some upstarts like the "children" leading the Restoration, as Commander Irons views them- the future of Mobius requires an organized, stratified fighting force that can shore up all dangerous power sources like the Chaos Emeralds and Drives, using their overwhelming might to ensure a calamity like Dr. Eggman never threatens the world again.
Certainly, there'll be people who protest his methods, but the Commander is well-prepared for that. After Operation: Nova Genesis brought him loyal recruits both new and old (beginning here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/55652692/), he's built up an arsenal of manpower as well as munitions to use in a war for control of the planet... will the Returners realize what the G.U.N.'s new ambitions are before it's too late? And if they do, how can they stand against a military that's drawing more power under itself with each passing day? Only time will tell...
