Another old piece I did for a couple of friends. The pier and crane were both hand drawn as opposed to traced over a photo like the ship was, which is sort of the first time I did something this big in perspective freehand. My first and so far only fully night-time piece. I was mostly just inspired by the Aral Sea and some of these Cuban Missile Crisis-era Soviet freighters but according to several people I accidentally made a Half-Life 2 map. Whoops!
A cat and hyena, respectively of tan and gray/green coloring, sit on a concrete pier overlooking a dried out seabed at night. A bumper tire has fallen off of the pier wall onto the seabed below. A former Soviet freighter of the Leninsky Komsomol-class lies tilted in the background with a hole in the hull. The cyrillic characters "Трансбалт", transliterated "Transbalt" can be seen on the bow of the ship. A classical Soviet harbor crane is on the end of the pier, overlooking the ship. The constellation "Northern Cross" is seen in a starry night sky.
Made in the October of 2023 in GIMP 2.10 using a mouse.
