Just as Claude thinks this is the end, he lets out a loud shrill squeaky cry for help. And in that moment, the enormous gryphon mama senses a familiarity in the sound the panicked skunk makes. It almost reminds her of the sound her kind's young chicks make. She takes a moment to examine the skunk again out of curiosity. He looks a bit different than any gryphon chick she's ever seen, but...he IS pretty fluffy like they are. As she sets him down, he starts looking more and more like a little fluffy babe, and in that moment, her maternal instincts kick in. 'A new hatchling!?' she silently thinks to herself, squawking happily at the idea of it, despite the misconception.
