Piano Solo: The Switch (Closing Credits)
This short piano solo is my attempt at doing the closing credits music to another British game show, "The Switch." The game is played with four players, and each round is played in two parts: Easy Money and The Switch. In Easy Money, each player has 45 seconds to answer as many general knowledge questions as possible, and host Sanjeev Bhaskar, OBE always gives them a hint about the answers, since they are always connected (i.e., all answers begin with C, all answers rhyme with "dog," etc.) £100 is paid for every correct answer.
The Switch, the main thrust of the game, begins with a category board with three categories, and Sanjeev asking more questions, but this time on the buzzer. The first player to ring in gets first choice of whether to lock in one category or swap it for another one at random. This is repeated three times, and after the third cycle, the categories are locked in.
The players then are shown a multiple choice questions with one wrong answer and the rest being correct answers. The host asks a qualifying question on the buzzer, and a right answer allows the contestant to choose one choice from the main question. The process repeats until all players are assigned one choice, and the player with the wrong choice is locked out of the next question, and is forced to accept the last choice left over from the second main question. (The locked-out player also cannot participate in the buzzer portion.) After three questions in this manner, the player that was locked out is eliminated.
The second round pays £200 per correct answer in Easy Money, and £300 in the third round. The last standing player wins the game, but they don't win any money until the final round. The champion is given three more categories and three questions, with right answers allowing them to switch out a category they don't like. The player is then given 45 seconds to answer one question in each category, up to a maximum of nine correct answers. If the champ completes one cycle (one correct answer in each category), they earn half they total amount banked. Two cycles earns them the whole total, and three cycles doubles the total. After a cycle, however, the player can choose to stop and leave with their cash if they desire, because if they choose to continue, they have only the remaining time from where the clock stopped to complete another cycle. If the clock hits zero, the contestant leaves empty-handed.
